BlueCarve Bluey v2

BlueCarve Bluey v2

$2,190.00 inc. GST

Please note that the current lead time of all CNCs is 2-4 weeks

Starting at $2190 for a 1×1 meter CNC, the Bluey v2 is the successor to the original Bluey. There are 3 sizes to choose from and well as upgrades to suit your needs. The Bluey v2 is capable of cutting soft and hardwood timbers, plastics and light work on soft metals like aluminium. Major upgrades include steel plates (+50% rigidity), thicker gantry (x2-4 times) and superior closed loop integrated motors (+30% more torque). The combination of increased rigidity and closed loop motors means that the Bluey v2 closes the gap on the BlueCarve Turbo.

  • Cutting area 1000x1000mm rail size, 750 x 750mm cutting area, 100mm height clearance
    • Upgradable to 1000×1500 rail size, 750 x 1250mm cutting area, 100mm height clearance
    • Upgradable to 1500×1500 rail size,1250 x 1250mm cutting area, 100mm height clearance
  • Motion controller Arduino Uno CNC Controller, Grbl 1.1h with optimal settings loaded
  • Stepper motors 340ozin Nema23 8mm shaft integrated closed loop stepper motors
  • Wiring & structure 8 core shielded robot flex cable
  • 6mm steel plates powder coated in BlueCarve blue
  • Included linear block Z upgrade (was $150 for Bluey v1)
  • 65mm mount to add your Makita trimmer or a spindle
  • Australian approved 24v power supply means that your Bluey v2 runs on only 40watts!!
  • Proximity sensor switches for X, Y & Z back to 0, 0, 0.
  • Motion Gt3 reinforced belts & 20 tooth pulleys
  • Bits $50 worth of bits from www.endmill.com.au

The only upgrade that you cannot do/add later for the Bluey is size.

The Bluey comes with a mount for a Makita RTO700CX trimmer. Makita’s are great because they do not require an inverter/VFD or water tubes and run flawlessly for many 100’s hours. Although the downside of the Makita trimmer is accuracy (runout of 0.1mm+) and power limited to 710w. A spindle can achieve accuracies of 0.008mm runout and delivery of 2 times more power. At the moment we offer the 1.5kw air cooled spindle that does not require maintenance of a cooling system but cannot go below 7200rpm

A really cool addition is a blue diode laser. This enables you to economically convert your Bluey to a fully functional laser CNC. Included in the cost is everything that you need to start engraving (additional software purchase needed ~$84usd).
– 7.5w is a great for engraving timber and can cut thin ply ~2mm
– 10w is a great engraver and can cut 5mm ply with air assist

Reduce time and increase cutting depth accuracy, with a Z probe. A Z probe sets the height of the material with a 15mm aluminium puck just before you start carving.

An aluminium rail system is used on an 18mm MDF base board, screwed down in parallel. You will still need strips of MDF to make a waste board. A base board and strips will need to be added by you.

Rail clamps to suit the T slot rail system

I do suggest to purchase a Makita 6mm collet to accommodate both 6mm shank end mills and surfacing bits. Surfacing bits are used to level your waste board to ensure consistent cut and carves. Normally $45.

The Makita trimmer comes standard with a 6.35mm collet. I will provide a 3.175mm to 6.35mm collet reducer to allow you to start cutting straight away with your 3.75mm shank bits. Normally $28.95. Not required if you are going with a spindle option

Basic dust boot to suit Makita trimmer or 1.5kw spindle

I’d love to see you come by to the BlueCarve HQ to pick up your fully assembled Bluey. If that is not possible, we do offer shipping via a courier in either one or two boxes. Once you receive your Bluey, it will require about 1 hour to assemble 5 main parts with provided instructions. We do not mark up the shipping fee and utilise 4 booking agents to get you the best price. A shipping cost will be calculated once we receive your quote.

Base and Waste board

You will need both a base board and waste board for your Bluey. I recommend having both so that once you have destroyed your waste board, it is easier to replace. The base board is
slipped in first and secured to your table, with the waste board screwed to that base board centered in the middle. Even though your total possible cut area is 750×750, you can get three sheets from the one full sheet

  • Base board thickness 18mm (~$39 at Bunnings for a full sheet)
  • 995x940mm (x1)
  • 700x700mm (x2)

If you have opted for an upgraded size, use the following calculations for the base and waste board:

  • 1000×1500 – base 1495x940mm and waste 750x1250mm

Table

It is ideal for your table to be as solid as possible to maintain a levelled surface. The more rigid your table, the more resilient it will be to warping over the seasons.

Use the following calculations as a minimum for your table:

  • 1000×1000 – 1200x1000mm
  • 1000×1500 – 1200x1500mm
